Venture Investment is a Specialized Form of Investment

Venture investment is the most refined form of investment their is and there are lucrative reasons why investors become venture capitalists, but the main reason is higher returns. A venture investment is more difficult to assess correctly and therefore requires advanced skills. Essentially venture investment comes with two main risks. Market Risk and Management team risk.

Venture capitalists spend a good deal of time looking at the management team of any new start up and typically want to know their experience and previous track record. If you are seeking venture capital, you may need to supply a management team to be reviewed unless you are the sole operator, which often seems unprofessional and not a good idea. The venture investor also takes into account, if they do like your management team and associates in terms of the culture and the past history, they will want to know what the likelihood is that if the project went ahead, would they be the ones that stay.

The other things a venture capitalist will look at closely is the market itself. The size of the potential market and the future size, is the market growing or contracting, because most investors are trend followers. They know deep down that all things happen in a succession of events called a trend and they do not want to be riding a diminishing trend.

If you seek private investment you will need to provide a good and professional presentation which is backed up by credible statistics and delivered with showmanship and confidence.
